WISC – V Assessment Testing
The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – (WISC-V) is a comprehensive clinical test used to assess a student’s general thinking, cognitive strengths and weaknesses aged from 6 to 16 years. The WISC-V test results include an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) score as well as age-equivalent benchmarks and scores for Verbal Comprehension, Visual Spatial, Comprehension, Reasoning & Memory.
In our NDIS psychology services the assessment scores for the WISC-V tests are performed and administered by experienced staff at Correlate Connections.
Skills assessment with WISC-V
The WISC-V is a new high level standard assessment tool designed to measure a child’s intellectual ability. It replaces the existing WISC-IV assessment tool, whereby it has more interpretive analytics, is more efficient and user-friendly than the previous version of the Wechsler test – and has updated psychometric properties. The WISC-V is composed of 16 subtests; Subtests can be grouped into two general categories: primary or secondary.
Administration of the WISC-V 10 primary subtests is recommended for a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s intellectual ability. The WISC-V 6 secondary subtests can be administered in addition to the primary subtests to provide a broader analysis of intellectual functioning providing deeper discovery for clinical decision making.

CARS-2 Childhood Autism Rating Scale
CARS-2 is a widely used rating scale in children 2 years & older which identifies and detects moderate to severe ASD. CARS has become one of the most validated autism assessments and has proven especially effective in differentiating children with autism and those with serious cognitive deficits, effectively determining mild-to-moderate – to severe autism.
Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder may communicate, interact, and develop in ways that are different from other people. Usually nothing about how they physically look differentiates them from other people. The abilities of people with ASD can vary significantly. With NDIS psychology services we can define these abilities.
For example, some people with ASD can have advanced conversation skills whereby others might be non-verbal. Some people with ASD need a lot of help in their daily lives whereas others can live with little to no support. ASD begins before the age of 3 years and can last throughout a person’s life, although symptoms may improve over time. Some children can show ASD symptoms within their first 12 months of life. In others, symptoms may not show until 2 years or later.
CARS2 adds forms and features that help you integrate diagnostic information, determine functional capabilities, provide feedback to parents, and design targeted intervention.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis
The diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder is based on diagnostic evaluations involving a team including a physician and a psychologist – and may include other specialists such as speech therapists and/or occupational therapists. The ASD assessment should include observations of the individual, assessments of their learning and cognitive abilities, and interviews to collate information about behaviour across multiple situations and their medical and developmental history.
