NDIS Price Guide and Support Catalogue
Understanding NDIS funding categories
NDIS funding categories can feel a little overwhelming at first. This page has been created as a simple, colour-coded guide to help you better understand common support categories and where they may sit within an NDIS plan.
Use the guide below as a general reference when reviewing funding areas, support categories, and line items. The colour coding is there to help make each section easier to follow and to show how different types of support may be grouped.
How to use this guide
This page has been created as a simple reference point for participants, families, carers, and support teams. You can download the colour-coded Price Guide and Support Catalogue below to use as a helpful reference when reviewing NDIS funding categories, support areas, and line items.
Understanding the 4 main NDIS budget types
1. Core Supports
Core Supports are generally used for everyday needs and day-to-day assistance. These supports can relate to daily living, community participation, consumables, and some transport-related supports.
2. Capacity Building Supports
Capacity Building Supports are designed to help build skills, independence, and confidence over time. These supports may relate to therapy, behaviour support, employment goals, learning, relationships, and support coordination.
3. Capital Supports
Capital Supports usually cover higher-cost items and more specialised supports. This can include things like assistive technology, home modifications, and specialist disability accommodation.
4. Recurring Supports
Recurring Supports are ongoing payments made directly for specific needs included in a plan. A common example is transport funding that is paid on a recurring basis.
